This essay describes the many ways that blogging has transformed
the world of writing. Blogging allows for writers to touch their audience at an
unparalleled pace, but also opens them up to a harsher and faster backlash of
criticism. I found it interesting to hear from the perspective of someone who
had previously been a fixture in the age of paper media and made the transition
into the digital era. His experiences both positive and negative were nothing
that I’d ever considered and it was overall very informative. I particularly liked
his commentary on how the style of writing is changed when one blogs and the adjustment
it took for him to evolve from one method of contacting his audience, to
another.
Sullivan definitely embraced the new era of technology as opposed to others of his generation, good point! And I also agree that blogging has changed the style of writing we see on the internet versus the writing style of novelists.
ReplyDeleteI think you raise a good point that Sullivan is a person who have experienced both age of paper media and transition to digital era. I thought Sullivan raised points that we mostly take for granted, such as the easiness and fastness of digital media. I agree with you that the essay was very informative.
