Brick Wall

An obvious object that stands out in the "Brick Wall" essay by Charles D'Ambrosio is brick. The obvious meaning that it has is that it constructs the city of Chicago, where the setting of this essay is. It also has a metaphorical meaning. As the bricks are the building blocks of Chicago, I think that everything that he mentions in the essay is a building block to his life and the person that he has become. I think that each person or event in his life has made an influence on him.

  1. I agree with your connection to the bricks and the influence everyone has had on his life. Everyone he has met has had an impact on his life that has made him the way he is just like how each brick in the wall is important to the structure of the wall.
