The Purpose of College

In today’s society, it is almost impossible to find a “good” job without a college degree. I’m here so that I can be better qualified for any professional position I might want to take on later in life. I’m not here because I love to learn; I’m not paying thousands to enrich myself. I’m here because society dictates that one must have a college degree to be successful. Yes, of course there are exceptions, but in most cases this statement holds true. The purpose of a college education is to build your resume. Although I’m sure there are academic skills that prove useful once hired, the possession of a degree is the reason many are able to obtain jobs in the first place. All in all, I do think it is important to attend college, however superficial my reasoning may be.
